Rees Jeffreys Road Fund has funded ADEPT (Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport) to collaborate with Leicestershire County Council to undertake the Value of Trees Project.

Highways Magazine‘s January/February 2022 edition carries an article by ADEPT member Andy Jackson about the project and its objectives. The project aims to produce specific guidance that will include a tree value matrix, aiding identification of the “right tree, right place.” Good choice of trees should build greater resilience, support nature recovery and be part of the bigger picture of tackling climate change.

The project aims to complete its first phase by April 2022. Later phases will include a pilot project to understand how the guidance can be rolled out more widely across the UK.
