Rees Jeffreys Road Fund and RAC Foundation have jointly funded research by Transport for New Homes CIC which examines how new housing estates can be designed with better travel and transport options for residents.

The study looked at a number of case studies to illustrate good and poor practice and sets out some great examples for developers and planners to use to improve future sustainability of new communities being built now. The Report by Transport for New Homes CIC can be found here.

Rees Jeffreys Road Fund Trustee and Head of the RAC Foundation Steve Gooding said, “There’s long been a disconnect between the ambition of the transport department to promote alternatives to the car and pressure on the housing department to see as many homes as possible built.”

The Transport for New Homes CIC website contains checklists and other helpful information that planners can use when considering the development of new housing and communities.
